I have a UHD drive that I want to rip UHDs with. Whether it does or doesn't see it as Drive E doesn't change the "no disc" result within MakeMKV. Sometimes windows doesn't recognize the drive as "Drive E", and sometimes it does. I unhooked the external USB drive and hooked it up to a Windows 10 laptop I have it couldn't open a standard blu ray there either. I did a system restore on my main windows desktop. I have unplugged and replugged the USB connection, at both ends of the wire. I have removed the device and reinstalled the device. I can open DVDs in MakeMKV, and CDs in Exact Audio Copy, so the drive isn't completely dead. Including blu rays and 4k UHD blu rays that I previously ripped with this drive. It just says "no disc", for any blu ray or 4K UHD blu ray I insert. I can't "open" any Blu Rays or 4K UHD blu rays via MakeMKV. I don't recall what message(s) popped up, but the drive started making some cycling sounds, so I aborted the attempt. MakeMKV opened the disc, but the rip didn't succeed. I tried to rip a 4K UHD disc (Frozen II, FWIW) and had some oddball problems. Software: Latest version (1.15.0) of MakeMKV Hardware: LG BE16NU50 external USB blu ray R/W drive running latest firmware () I'm trying to troubleshoot a pretty odd-ball problem and I thought I'd ask the community for some help. I am going to try a full folder backup of the Frozen UHD but not sure how many times I can really sit through that movie to verify quality.
Replayed that scene and it played without drop the second time, so thinking that was something else in the chain. I tried playing back the straight MKV file with original 4k video and Atmos and noticed one audio drop in the few minutes I was watching. If MKV does not error out do I rule out the disc or would MKV succeed and leave me a corrupted file if there was an issue with the physical media? I understand there are issues with branching on some Disney discs but I do not know if that is what I am encountering or if there are some other problems with the disc, or drive, or eac3to or some other software I should be using in the process.
